Do's
- When moving around a horse, place your hand lightly on a horse’s hindquarters so that the horse knows where you are at all times.
- Use proper handling facilities provided specially for separating the horses.
- When inside a handling facility, always leave a clear exit for yourself. Do not let the horse get between you and the exit.
- While grooming the horse, start at the front and work your way towards the back.
- Watch the horse’s ears and eyes t detect its mood.
- Always speak in a soothing voice when you are around a horse.
- Be firm and let the horse know who is in control.
Dont's
- not mistreat the animal, but be firm and treat them with respect.
- Avoid stepping in their path.
- Never work in extremely tight quarters.
- Never wrap the halter lead around your hand, waist, wrist or wrap it around your neck.
- Never ride a horse without a proper riding helmet and riding gear.
- Never hand feed the horses.
