USTM RIDING CLUB

MESSAGE FROM CHANCELLOR

It gives me immense pleasure to know that the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya is coming up with the ‘USTM Riding Club’, a brand new horse riding venture in the university campus. Equestrianism, commonly known as horse riding or horseback riding has been an important part of human history all over the world which dates back to approximately 3500 B.C. The horses have been playing an important role throughout the human civilisation both in warfare and in peaceful pursuits such as transportation, trade, recreational activities, artistic or cultural exercises, and competitive sport. In the modern world, it has been scientifically proven that the sport of horseback riding has many therapeutic qualities which provide both physical and mental health benefits. USTM, being one of the most happening universities of the region not only emphasizes on academic welfare of the people, but also focuses on their cultural, social, physical and mental welfare as well. I am hopeful that the ‘USTM Riding Club’ will definitely contribute a lot in achieving these objectives. I am sure that it will get converted into a professional Riding Club in the near future. It also gives me immense happiness to declare that the USTM Riding Club shall not be only limited to the university students and therefore it will be accessible for everyone across the Nation. I congratulate the entire USTM family for this grand initiative and welcome everyone to be a part of it.
